i have a 4yr old patterdale terrier i got him from a refuge in october 09. I have trained him to do basic stuff like sit and lie down and are working on come [with a whistle] I would please want some advice on how to train him to not only come but to do clever tricks and quirky tricks but as a beginner i would like a step by step guide from the internet or by your mind

Dog Training - Enjoyable Dog Obedience Training Techniques

• You can get books at the library to help you (marker training). The best advice I can give you is to write out the trick, step by step, that you want the dog to do. Work on each step marking with treats or a word "yes" until you know the dog knows what you want. Then add the next step. Keep going until it is the trick you imagined. Only you know your dog.

• well my dog is not very smart so now that shes old she's forgetting tricks but i taught her to roll over and it was pretty easy. i just had her on carpet and rolled her over a few times and then see if she would do it and if not roll her over another fwe times and keep doing it till she caught on. Hopefully this will help you :)


• i taught my uncle's 14 year collie to hand shake. so you will probably have an easier time than i did!
