Helpful Tips on Dog Training
Recommended Answer:
No such thing as "cheap" dog training. Sounds like you need a behaviourist, and they're not "cheap", sorry.
Dog Training - You and Your Dog
- depends on what cheap is to you?
you can get a 6 week course at petsmart for $100 although i do not know if it is effetive - Nothing about dogs is cheap. A good trainer is not cheap, and there is not quick and cheap way to have a well behaved dog either.
A well behaved dog takes a lot of time, money and energy and if you are not willing to invest it then you can't expect your dog to perform the way you would like. - You get what your pay for unless you do it your self. Be a leader your dog can respect. Teach it your self.
- You could always call Bark busters- there not cheap but they cost around 500 bucks. They will help you solve this problem. I promise by the end of the first session your Yorkie will have changed.
The website is www.barkbusters.com Im sure there is a trainer in your area.

I don't know where your located but if your close to where these dog trainersare you might want to give them a call.
I have used them and my dogs are so much better then how they were.
My dogs, Dakota and Duke, are well behaved now more than they were before the trainer came. Both of them used to be noisy in the house and when I was on the phone. Now they are quiet inside and when I am on the phone. I am happy that they have learned that. They have also gotten better at walking on the leash.
heres how it helps too:
Solving behavioral issues such as aggression towards people or other animals.
Curing embarrassing habits like barking, jumping up on people, scratching and whining at the back door.
Creating an obedient dog or puppy that will happily walk on leash without tugging, sit or stay on command, and come immediately when called. (Sorry, we don't train children!)
Setting off-limit areas for your dog.
Reducing the stress of separation anxiety without the need for sedatives or drugs.
I hope this helps! - The cheapest thing is for you to buy (or even rent) books on dog training. There are probably videos you can rent or buy as well. TV shows, such as the "Dog Whisperer", also provide tons of clues about how to train dogs.
Basically, you need to establish yourself as the "alpha" in the house. At present, you haven't done that. When a dog fails to see an "alpha" in the house, he/she will take on that role. However, a dog prefers not to have to do so (after all, it is a burden). If the dog sees that you are taking on the role, you'll be amazed at how quickly the dog will realize that she can no longer "get away" with things and how much better behaved she'll be.
Prong collars, cans with coins in them, water bottles, TONS of patience and lots of time (no yelling, scolding and ESPECIALLY no hitting) will work.
However, as a new trainer, I still recommend you take at least some classes. Those can run as little as $100. That may seem like a lot - but a well behaved dog is definitely worth that and more (I paid a fortune for my training, and it was worth every cent!).
Good luck!
