Dog Health Questions: Trouble with dog nipping, Family retarded, keeps giving attention?

Hey all, Very annoying problem.

I've read 3 dog training books and been to classes, However my stupid mother keeps raging at me to "control my dog" from nipping/following people when they go to leave/enter the house.

I ignore/walk away when it does and give treats/affection when it doesn't.
But the same parent yells at it and threatens it, the exact attention it's hoping for.

Does anyone have a quick cure for my poor dog? (Or preferably for my retarded mother who I've explained this to numerous times?)
