Dog Health Questions: Is there anywhere I can send my dog training for a few months?

I have a dog and a puppy also I live with a woman that has two other dogs. My dog was fine with them at first but he is getting aggresive again. I would like to know if there is anywhere I can send my dog for a few months to get training?

Dog Training - How to Train Your Dog Effectively

Recommended Answer:
Sending your dog somewhere will not teach the dog to properly interact with the dogs HE LIVES WITH, nor will it teach YOU how to use the training that the professionals are using. I suggest you find a good trainer in your area that will be willing to come to your home and train both you and the dog.

Some Obvious Benefits of Dog Training - Help For Owners of Older Dogs

  • And how would that solve anything?

A behaviorist needs to come into your house. Evaluate the dog AND YOU to see what the real issue is. Then give a diagnosis and teach you how to handle the animal and how to work around the aggression.

It does no good to send a dog away for "training" when the issue is aggression in the home towards another dog... The dog needs to be worked in his home turf with the trigger to his problems. YOU need coaching as well.

Talk to your vet or pick up a phone book. Find a behaviorist - not a sit/stay treat trainer but someone versed in canine body language, behavior, and behavior modification. Teaching the dog to "sit" won't take care of aggression issues.....

  • Training isn't going to solve this.
You need to make a decision as to whether you are going to move somewhere he can be safe and not feel the need to be aggressive with anyone, or rehome the dog by way of a reputable rescue.

  • How about correct the problems yourself? But yes there are dog boot camps or you can send your dog to ceasar millans rehabilitation center.

  • Yes there are places but it won't be cheap. Try asking in your local vets to see if they can recommend anywhere local to you.

  • There should be local services, check the phone book, or the Humane Society because you will need training as well.

  • this is a question thats hard to answer! it's a good time to research online- ask your vet! good luck and learn along the way! -Sophie
