Does anyone have experience with this unit, and can anyone provide information on what it takes to get into it? I know Lackland is an AFB, but is the Training Squadron Air Force only? I'm looking into joining the Army, so that's where I've looked.
Considering a Dog Training Career
Recommended Answer:
They do not have an MOS just for training the dogs. Its a long process. First you will have to join the Army (any branch will work) and then after 2 years as an MP (MOS 31B) you can put in to become a dog handler (not the easiest slot to get). After you are a dog handler for a while to can put in to become an instructor at Lackland....
Its a long process because they cant have someone that has never handled a dog before train other people on how to do it.

- talk with your recruiter or someone from the different services. recruiters this time of the year you'll find them at fairs, fall festivals, colleges and schools...ask them straight out about the MOS or requirements and as to what branches handle the training squadrons. to be all you can be ...you must do what you dream.
