Dog Health Questions: DOG TRAINING HELP!!!!?!?!?!!?

I have a small cairn terrier ans when she goes out she'll pee and everything but when it's time to come inside and go to bed she won't come!!! It takes at least an hour every day to get her in. And I don't want to leave her out... She wud freeZe! :( oh and she is super fast so catching her isn't an option!!!!

A Guide to Basic Dog Training Principles

Recommended Answer:
You can take her out on a leash but if she is not used to a leash , put the leash on her in the house and let her run around the house with it on, when she gets used to the leash and is no longer bothered by it then you can take her out on the leash. Dogs need playtime and exercise so if she wont come in when you want her too it may be because she wants to play. A dog will not let herself freeze in the cold

Is Dog Training Necessary? Part 1

  • Take her out on a leash, and if she has to stay out for a while, tie her up, then bring her inside when you want.

  • Take her out for that last potty on leash or on a flexi-lead.

  • You need to train her to come when you say come!...

this can be accomplished by keeping her on a looong lead... let her sniff around call her by her name and then the comman you use to come such as.... _______ COME! only say this once if you notice after a moment she isnt paying attention pull SLOWLY ((do not make this punishable to her)) on the leash until she reaches you and praise her!!...

repeat and keep her on the leash for now untill you no longer need to pull her back towards you.. DO THIS IN THE HOME AS WELL AS OUTSIDE!...

    then introduce without the leash...

if she is a puppy u can repeat come to make it sound more appealing however as the dog matures she needs to understand that you are not playing and COME means COME NOW not Come... Come...Come and still continue what she's doing..

THIS COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH A VERY IMPORTANT COMMAND!! GOOD LUCK!

  • Take the dog for obedience training. Until you can get her signed up for training, take her out on a leash.

  • Hi,

Your canine newcomer is just itching to learn household manners. She wants to please, but she has to learn how. Before the young pup can be trusted to have full run of the house, somebody must teach the house rules. Here are more training tips:
