Dog Health Questions: Dog Training Question?

Me & my husband recently adopted a 8 week old puppy. We've had him for about 2 weeks and he was surprisingly doing really well with the housetraining (going potty outside) He NEVER had a #2 accident, he would have urine accidents but if he had to do some serious business, he went to the door and barked!... until the last few days he's been doing it right in front of me with no regards to what he learned. Why is he going backwards?! What are we doing wrong?

How to Select a Good Online Dog Training Course

  • A lot of it could be attention seeking.

Dogs need Tender Loving Care, attention, and all that good stuff.

Take him/her out 15 minutes after they eat and every 2 or 3 hours until he stops.

It could also be an infection.I'd keep an eye on him and if it continues call your vet.

  • Did someone in your house cry or was sad because that can triger that even if it was nothing it could still worry them

  • His lapse in training is due to the normal boundary-testing that all animals do at one point or another in their development.

There are two ways to approach this.

You can be nice, or you can be fast.

To be nice, realize that dogs hate shrill sounds and use a whistle or a reverberating piece of metal (and clang the devil out of it) for a good 60 seconds after the next occurrence.

To be fast, you rub his nose it when he does it. That will probably not require more than one or two accidents to get him back on track. Perhaps just one.

    Best of luck!
