Dog Training
Recommended Answer:
I have a friend who had a good experience with one of the Pet store training's (I can't remember which one off the top of my head). It didn't work out for my German Shepherd rescue though, and I needed to get him in to see an experienced GSD trainer, and the experience has been a LIFE SAVER!
I live in PA so the trainers name may not help, but he may know someone in your area that would be good--he deals with "special" cases who either have aggression or past abuse issues (and helps them get over their problems).
His name is John Jones and the following is his website: www.JohnJonesCanineTraining.com
He has been a lifesaver, so even giving him a call with questions could help!
Good luck!
Show Dog Training
- I don't know about your PetCo, but my PetCo Classes have been a lifesaver!
- I know that the Petsmart classes really do work. It is not the training the dog but YOU training the dog. Because it also helps build a relationship.
- I took Candi to private obidiance corses she needed the 1on1 attention
- Howdy! Well, I am unaware of how sucessfull the Petco training programs are, but I have had a beagle and a golden retriever, both which we took to "puppy kindergarden" classes. They actually were full of information, whether or not the dog learned anything, you did. Its mostly a class for you that teaches the owners how to properly train a crazy/spazzish puppy/dog. lol
- I know that from experience that Petco works great. They work with you and the dog and teach you simple ways to teach your dog. Good Luck
- Both PetsMart and PetCo use the same type training techniques. You might want to talk to the trainer at PetCo. Talk about your questions and concerns about your dog. Some of the people who train for these outfits are quite good. The have some "dog sense" and are able to teach their techniques quite well to the public. Others aren't so good. Personally, I have done better with trainers who don't train in the petstore setting. The links below have lists of trainers that maybe in your area that help people train their dogs. Good luck and happy training.
