Dog Training - The First Steps in Training a Dog
Recommended Answer:
The best way to house train a puppy is to catch them just before they pee/poop.
I have trained both puppies and adult rescues by leashing them to me in the house. When the puppy sniffs, circles and squats then quickly stop the puppy and take her outside. I find if you never catch the puppy in the act it takes longer to train them. Remember to praise her for going outside.
Bad Dog Training Tricks - How to Correct Bad Dog Behavior
- Try putting a pee mat by the front door.
Dogs don't generally pee where they eat or sleep. So if you put a food dish in her crate she probably won't go in their. - when she goes to the bathroom outside praise her and say a word that she can connect to going to the bathroom outside. also, if she goes inside, only yell at her when you catch her doing it. she wont remember if you come back and yell at her. if she starts scratching, sniffing, or barking near the door, you know to take her outside right away.
- Ok...Ive raised about 50 pitbulls...I think I know this one...:)...u got rub her face in it and beat the **** out of her*....i know it hurts buts it the truth...u make sure u do on the way to the door to and show her she has to go outside.....best of luck!!
- Never punish a pup for going in the wrong place, but praise her when she goes in the right place. Did you get her from a pet store? You most likely did, and all she has known how to do is to go in her crate. So it is more difficult to train a pup from a pet store because you have to un train a bad habit. You are doing the right thing with a crate though and it will pay off eventually. You have to keep taking her out often, like you are, but stay out long enough for her to go. Then lots of praise. Eventually she will go outside and she will get the idea. Also make sure you have the crate divided up small enough so she can only turn around.
