Dog Training Has Many Benefits
Recommended Answer:
I would bring her back to the breeder, it sounds like she has a disposition problem. Could just be a personality thing, but it could also result from bad breeding, and if that's the case, who's to say what else is wrong?
The Many Types Of Dog Training
- have her take obedience classes. My friend takes her dog there and i have seen a major improvement in the way her dog acts. Look online for obedience class listings.
- Sign her up for pet training classes at your local vet.
This is why most people don't recommending cross breeding. Sometimes you'll turn out lucky and have perfect tempermented beautiful puppies, but sometimes you don't and the situation turns out a lot like yours. If someone is goign to by a dog, get a purebred and if not go to a pound and adopt a mutt, kinda like the mixed breed mutt your sis bought!
(That is what those dogs are, mutts= mixing 2 different breeds) - well for one its a puppy and puppies do these things. why isnt the dog allowed in bed with her? its a baby and misses her mom. i think she should try letting it sleep with her. put the leash on her and let her drag it around supervised for an hour every day so that she will get used to it being there. when she nips and growls shes prolly just playing take your hand and gently close her mouth and keep it closed for a second and say no whenever she does either one. she should call a trainer.
- Does your sister have a PetSmart store in her area? If so....sign up and take the beginner dog training class. I have a nippie little chihau/ minpin cross and had the same problem. The class helps allot!!
- give it a treat when it does something right, spank it when it does wrong, dont spoil the dog
- Well thats the problem she thought a little puppy would be fine alone. Number one the dog must be on a schedule. Shes a puppy and will bite because shes teething, My advice is this (since i too have a 9 week old puppy) Get a crate, big enough for her to get up and turn around in and whatnot. Put her in there at like 8-9 pm and tell her its bedtime. she will wake her to go potty a few times a night but it will lessen as she gets older. Make sure she gets love and attention. To teach not to nip I hold my dogs bottom jaw if she nips at me and tell her no bite then I give her something it is ok to bite on. She needs tog et the dog on a schedule and after a week or 2 the dog will be used to it and wont wine so much. Shes just a baby and away from her mom and lonely your sis needs to be more patient! Oh and whatever you do DO NOT HIT THE DOG! this only makes things worse!!!
- Sounds like to me that your sister is not ready for the responsibility of a puppy!!!!
This puppy is still very young!! It is going to have to have someone that has lots of patience and time to devote to this poor puppy!!!
I have a 14 weeks old Lab puppy and let me tell you she takes a lot of my time and patience . I am 54 years old and this is not my first puppy to train. But this puppy is giving me a run for my money!!
I don't think it would be a good idea for you to train this puppy. It is only going to confuse the poor thing. Pluys what is your sister going to get out of it. She won't even know her own puppy and the puppy won't know her!!!!!
This puppy will need to be potty trained and it took me 3 1/2 weeks and I am home all day. Puppies chew on anything and everything!! You can't just bring home a puppy and think it will know what to do.
Puppies are just like having a baby!! You have to puppy proof your house. The puppy can and will chew on electric cords. Can get into toilets if the lid is up. If there is anything on the floor it will swallow it!!
Just take the poor puppy back to where you got it from.
It deserves to be trained well.
This puppy can read your sister's behavior!! This can make things worse!!! Your sister is not ready for a puppy. If she is calling you on the phone crying already.
Of course the puppy wants to get in bed with her. The puppy is scared to death!!!! It misses its mother, brothers and sisters!!!! Its in a new place!!!
It needs a nice kennel where it can feel safe in. A nice soft bed to sleep in.
Your sister has a lot to deal with!! Training a puppy is a very big job. Didn't your 22 year sister give it any thought at all before she got the puppy??? I know puppies are cute, soft and cuddly!! There is so much more than that as far as taking care and raising a puppy. DOGS ARE SOCIAL ANIMALS!! They want to be living with their owners in the house. They want to be trained and they want to be made to mind.
Take the poor puppy back or find it a nice home. You don't want your sister to hurt the poor thing!!
Good Luck to the puppy and your sister!!!!
P.S. For the puppy's sake take the poor thing back to the breeder or where she got it. Why don't you take the puppy?? - My experience
