Dog Health Questions: Where can I get my own dog trained to be a heainrg service dog?

Does anybody know of any trainers that train hearing service dogs nationally. I live in Anchorage, AK and there are none here. I have my own dog she is about 2 years old and a jack russel mix. As I am told, she would make an excellent working dog. I was toldI could train her myself and even get her certified... is this true? How does one get started?

Do you or someone in your household need a service dog? If you don't I don't quite understand why you would want to give up your dog to be a service dog. It is an honorable thing to do, but I still don't understand why you would do it.
