Dog Health Questions: Best books for dog trainers?

I'm going to dog training school at Triple Crown Academy in January & am very excited! I have no previous dog training experience but I've been reading alot online and looking for good books to consider buying. I just got a copy of the APDT's "The Dog Trainer's Resource". And I plan on buying the 2nd installment of that later on as well.

I'm looking for highly recomended books on breed specifics, aggression, behavior modification, so on and so forth...

Dog Training Supplies - Dog Collars

Recommended Answer:
Get Paul Chance's Book "Learning and Behavior".

It's not a dog training book, it's a learning theory book. Learning theory is the basis of the current thinking on dog training which follows very well with the APDT.

Congratulations and have fun!

Dog Training Collars Are Not All Alike

  • www.flyingdogpress.com Suzanne Clothier is the trainer I follow. She is more of a behaviorist.

Free articles on her site. Very thorough and informative.

Her book is Bones Would Rain From the Sky: Deepening Our Relationship with Dogs.

  • "Dog Whisperer" is a very, very good book on training your dog. It's based off the Discovery channel show of the same name.
