Dog Health Questions: Dog tricks?

My friend has a dog training party to attend. At the party, she wanted to have a trick for her dog to perform. Unfortuantely, during the week she was unable to find something that was easy, interesting, and one that dogs wont be confused over. Does anyone have ideas of a trick her dog could learn in a short amount of time and how she could teach it?

Dog Training Basics - Important Tips to Remember

Recommended Answer:
yeah I taught my dog in a short time how to lift her paw to shake my hand.
YOu just gently take the back of their front leg , so it gets you want it lifted.
THen when your dog knows that , tap the back of the same leg to get the dog to know you want it lifted.
THen try and motion your hand for the paw to be lifted , if your dog doesn't know tap the back of the same leg and it knows the signal. Do that for a few days..good luck

Dog Training Tips

  • It really depends on how smart the individual dog is. Also, a dog training party? Sounds like fun but probably not the ideal environment to try to train in as there will be so many distractions.

How about sit pretty? It's basically just sitting up for a treat.

  • You can try to have her stand on her hind legs and twirl around like a ballerina. It is so cute. All you have to do is dangle a treat the dog likes in front of her and lift it up as she stands to try to get it. Then twirl it around. It is fun.
Just make sure you kindly reward your dog for a great performance.

  • Rolling over is a really easy one. Just push them over from the lay down position and give him a treat each time. After about 20 times, maybe less, he'll get the point and do it all day!
