Dog Health Questions: Dog Training!?? Help??

i have a 1 and a half yr old poodle, terrier, chiuahaha mix. He still has a problem potting in the house. Sometimes we will walk him outside for like 15 mins and he wont potty but as soon as we get in the house he does. Help plz????

Dogs tend to have pretty regular potty schedules. Where does your dog stay when he is inside? If you are not doing this I would really look into crate training. If your dog has been in the crate for a substantial time and then you take him out to walk for 15 min and he doesn't potty he should go right back in the crate. Wait another 15-20 minutes and repeat until he potties. When he does give him a treat and lots of praise. Also don't go on a "walk", pick about a 8-10 foot square area of space and walk your dog only in this small area until he potties. Sometimes dogs get distracted when walking by the sights, smells and sounds so keep it boring and uneventful until he pees. Going on a longer walk should only come after he potties in the designated area. If you use a routine that becomes consistent and the dog knows the expectations by repeated exposure you will have better luck.

• buy him rawhides so he can chew them up on purpose-- he probably does this because he doesnt have enough exercise-- as far as peeing inside it may have something to do with the fact that he can still smell his pee -- try to rent a steam cleaner-- maybe that will help leave him outside until he goes no matter how long it takes-- also bring treats and treat him for doing it outside

  after about 30-1 hour after he eats, take him outside. Bring a treat if you have to. Let him sniff around and you HAVE to wait no matter how long it takes. If it takes him more than 20-30 minutes to sniff around. While you are outside. Praise him. Encourage him. Say: 'Gotta go potty?' [that's inside before you take him out.] and when you're outside say: 'go potty, go potty. Take him back inside. But if he goes then give him the treat. It helps if you take him to the usuall spot that he goes to the bathroom, outside of course. That help him pick up the smell.
  As for his chewing problem, He's probably teething, if he hasn't lost all of his puppy teeth. Stick with bones. But wait until he really chews the bone. Cause if you get a bone and a rubber toy, he'll probably go after the rubber one cause he's not familiar with the hard bone. Hope this helps.
