This is as cheap as it gets... pretty awesome site once you get past the color scheme. I find Stitch's blog to be helpful when I'm feeling stuck on something.. it just makes me feel better to see the ebb and flow of someone else's training.
Help With Dog Training
- an internet research on dog training is about all you'll get for "almost" free. because classes can be expensive. expect to pay about 100+ for a 6-8 week sessions for a puppy/begginer class and even more for a trainer to come to you
- a training video or book.
www.leerburg.com - if you are still talking about your aggressive 5 year old dog, then you need to shell out the bucks to fix this problem that you have allowed to continue. you are at a point now where trying to save money is not an option. you will get what you pay for and your baby will get bit. sit down with your husband and come to an agreement. if you want to keep the dog find a behaviorist and completely follow through with their reccomendations. this is your only option. your dog will not do well in a group class, you need one on one attention and it would be unfair of you to take away from other members of the group for that time.
- Having a well mannered, well behaved, well trained dog is an investment no one can afford not to invest in.
There is no almost free class unless you intend to train it yourself. Most people fail at this because they have no clue in the world what or how to train because "they" have not been trained. The results? 7-10 million pets killed every year in shelters due to lack of homes... most land there because they were not trained.
For about $100-$120 Petsmart offers an excellent class. You won't be sorry unless you don't do what they tell you to do.

http://www.k9webs.com/patscott/articles.… - The Novice level course I described for you can be found at your local library. If they do not have it on the shelf, they can get if for you in a couple of days. The equipment necessary to complete the course will be less than dinner for four and a movie.
This training, when done from the book, will take you about 80 hours to complete (over a thirteen week period). By the third week of training you can start to get the dog out and about. By the fifth week most of your training will take place in public places around the neighbourhood, and by the eighth week of the program you will wonder why you didn't do this sooner. The end result is a dog that you can trust to be at your side - a companion dog.
You have my e-mail address. Contact me and I'll give you the details on the book, available training Planners, and videos. All are designed to help you help yourself to a new master/dog relationship. The after-training maintenence is then incorporated into your daily lifestyle activities. No body needs to live with an ill-mannered dog.
