"Taste of His Own Medicine" By Alexis Walker... an apparently new dog training star.
In it she explains the new trend in obedience training dogs. So if your dog rushes you at the door, jumping up and trying to nip you in the face, you have to beat him to it. So walk in the door get in his face and start nipping at his mouth.
For leash training, if your dog pulls, you're supposed to continuously try to outrun him.
If he urinates on your carpet... well, you get the idea.
Has anyone heard of this new trainer or her methods? Has anyone tried them?
I don't know if it's for me but I'm open to anything new. It has some high praise testimonials from dog owners and an endorsement from something called the PDTC. Anyone ever heard of that?
And it has the most adorable Yorkie/Staff mix on the cover. So I might just have to give it a try.
Does this sound like something you would be willing to try on your dog? What do you think?

I tried peeing on the carpet it did not work
Maybe I did it wrong.
I better go back to Koehler, that seemed to work.
By the way thats a Stafforkie on the Cover, please use the correct bread name when referring to the dog.
ADD: If this is a slam at Koehler dog training I am not amused.
Since I train my dogs pure Koehler- as seen by the dog in my Avatar- it is a method that is tried and true and works!
I am hoping she was comparing REAL training such as Koehler to bunny hugger garbage

- LOLOLOL Love it. So with a marking dog, intitiate a literal pissing contest.....
Don't appreciate the jab at Koehler though but I'll let it slide. - If I told you how easy it is to get a job in this recession, you wouldn't believe me. But the truth is more employers are going online to find people just like you and me who are ready to work at a good job (one that pays good!). The only thing that makes sense is to stop wasting time driving around all day filling out a dozen applications and going from one boring low paying job to another. I found this site that pretty much matches you up with your dream job that is available in your city right now. I have found it very helpful. Go to FindMeJobNow.com
- HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It's funny, people hate Koehler and dismiss his theories (not saying your are Inga) and then these kinds of trainers pop up. Nobody seems to understand that every GOOD method was based from Koehler's methods.
Not from peeing on the carpet because your dog did...dear god....
I'm going to go home and try that all tonight...will get back to you with a report LOL. - It might work for some dogs, but it definitely won't work for all. I think it could actually exacerbate bad behavior. It's definitely a far from fail-proof training style.
It sure as heck wouldn't work with my dog. He's part Husky so there's no outrunning him on walks. And that's without mentioning that reciprocating a bite to the face could cause an injury. And urinating on a carpet would just encourage the dog to eliminate there. The "eye for an eye" methodology on the whole is seriously flawed. - You're kidding me right? How many more insane, lame methods are people going to come up with? Why on earth would I want to get in my dog's face and start attempting to nip him? Why would I want to try to outrun him? That's just ridiculous!
No, I certainly haven't heard of this trainer or methods! Figures this trainer is now a star! It's sad how much people lack common sense these days. It definitely shows when people will fall for a joke of a trainer like this person obviously is!
ADD: The jab at Koehler (Even if there was no jab) is fine with me! That method is cruel, dangerous, and outdated. I don't advocate this method and I never will. - Reminds me of `walkies` with that old women from the UK (this was about 30 years ago - cannot remember her name) - claimed she could blow in a pigs nose and know what they were thinking.
She made a fortune with that stupid gibberish - as I expect this will too.
More fool me.
Edit: It does bring new meaning to the old saying ``pissing contest`.
One more edit : This outrunning thing - I remember meeting a women years ago that did that with her German Shorthair as a puppy - in an attempt to keep him from bolting (off lead). She would run him down.... literally -
Its honestly sad to think people believe bullying a dog (which is what this is) builds a bond - why would I want my dog to fear me. How is this a good thing .
As far as biting him in the face - I take it the owner of this book never owned a doberman - mine would justifiably try to bite yours off for trying . Sheesh...
