Dog Health Questions: Dog training please help.?

do you need any training your self to train a dog? i noticed i'm very good at training dogs and teaching them obedience. even older dogs. so do you need a degree or anything to train dogs?

i've even taught my dog silent commands. i will open my hand for speak and all kinds of things and i would love to teach dogs for the deaf so they can use hand signals, my dog know sit, stay, come, up, lay down, rollover, and shake all with hand signals and commands.

of course i wouldn't charge anyone who is deaf or handicapped i would love to train their dogs for free but i do love animals and i would love to be a dog trainer, of course i would need to make some money to buy treats to train them with and other necessaties. and some money to pay my bills. lol. so do i need any special degrees schooling or anything to become a dog trainer?

Wow you sound as if you are a natural with animals which is not a common thing.Some people d not use plain common sense and you do.If you wish to become a professional trained there are different schools or qualifications you need to obtain and it varies from country to country but since you have a head start on other you would do fine.If you are in the US check out the AKC and they will head you in the right direction.Usually what happens is people do Obedience with their dogs get to a very high qualification and then go for exams so they can be instructors.Hope you reach your goal and you obviously realize you have talent but bear in mind there are some real problem dogs around that need real professional help as they need re-training and some you can never re-train as their owners have created the problem and the dog suffers because of that.GOOD LUCK

• i am a dog trainer myself and when people call you to train there dogs it is usually when the behaviour they want trained has gotten out of hand and they will ask you to fix behaviour problems rather then teaching trick so its probably best to become qualified to know how to read a dogs behaviour. if you work well with dogs already that is a big bonus on your side and you will be ahead of other people learning to be a trainer. having knowledge behind you will also help with people taking you more serious as a Trainer
