i will use him for stud wen he is old enough what age is this i breed labradors but never own a stud dog

• he first needs to earn his CH title in the show ring to proove that he is a good example of the breed tho.. and he also needs his genetic health tests thru the OFA, CERF, BAER, PennHip and Optigen, as well as a brucellosis test.. all of these tests are done at 2 years old.

• Well, you can start by stacking him and gaiting him so he will be ready for his first show when he's 6 months old. If he does well in the ring, you can have his hips and elbows scored by OFA when he is 24 months old, and all other genetic health testing. If everything goes well after he is 2, I don't think he will need any lessons on how to breed a b**ch. It is you that needs the education and your pup can start in a beginners obedience and handling class.


• Get real! What makes your dog worthy of breeding? No owner of a good female will breed to a nothing dog, who hasn't proven itself worthy of breeding. If you already breed dogs, you shouldn't have to ask questions on YA's.

• First thing is l presume he is registered with the AKC or relevant body.Secondly for genuine breeder to use him he has to do well in the Show ring so you have to get his title although you can get Obedience and Agility titles if you prefer.Lab breeders look for the best stud avail and if yours has not got a top pedigree and champions behind it and it is not a champion you will not have many people with pure breads knocking on your door.Sure you can Cross breed but l am sure that is not your intention Do not use him at stud until he is at least 18 months old some people will not agree but after 40 years of breeding l have seen what happens to males that are bred too early

  So you are a BYB that clearly has no idea about getting health clearances. Wonderful. The breed needs more people breeding CRAP. It is practically destroyed right now, so you might as well add to it's sure destruction.
  
  TWO YEARS is when they can get hip and elbows done. TWO. You do NOT breed until AFTER they have cleared all the test needed.

• He should not be bred until he is fully mature, and has finished his championship. Also, all genetic testing is done about 2 years old. He should not be bred until all test come back clear.


• Schnauzer: Breed Ring Championship, Obedience & Agility are great too. But don't forget field titles! After all this is what Labs were really meant to do. :)
