first off he will probably cry all night long lol..but it will get better. and yes i do believe crate training is the easiest way to do things. be sure to have a crate that is just enough room to sleep in...no food..no bathroom area..just a bed area. most dogs do not want to soil their bed if they can keep from it. (he is only 8 weeks so go easy on him) first thing take him outside..reward him with a treat or praise when he does his duty then back inside to play. then back in the crate to sleep and when he wakes back outside..ect. eventually he will start letting you know that its time to go out..goodluck..and have fun!

7 Top Dog Training Tips

  • if you don't want him roaming around pooping or peeing around the house i would keep him in the crate till hes trained

  • i would keep him/she in the crate for a while

  • Ok when i was training my dog like you are planing to do he pooped all over his crate and he some how had it fly like a foot away from his cage i dont think u want to do tht with your dog so i think you should do what we did we just put him in the room with me and he fell asleep with me and he felt so loved and now he folows every command because we let him wander around the house but all the rooms you dont want him to go in just shut the doors it should be just fine

    Good Luck

  • Congrats on getting a new puppy! I think its good to crate train your puppy, but there are many ways you can do this. If you want it to be house trained, you should always make sure that you take the puppy out every 15 to 30 minutes. If your puppy has a no no then show the puppy(its best to catch the puppy when its fresh), and scold it, then take is outside to see if it has to finish. Crate training is great for training your puppy to not go potty during the night. when you get the puppy, show it the crate, and then put it in the crate when you need to. If the puppy whimpers, ignore it! The puppy will get tired of whimpering and getting no response. It may be hard but use all your inner strength to not let the puppy win. once the puppy stops whimpering and relaxes that's when you can take it out again. Try this over night, and sometimes during the day. Make sure that whenever the puppy does something good, you reward it so much that you feel incredibly dumb because you are overacting it. But that's good! You have to overact the rewarding so the dog will feel more up to doing the good and not the bad. Its just like turning in a paper at school, and the feeling of getting an +A, but the teacher also praises you, your work, and boasts about you to everyone. With good training, your new puppy could truly become one to boast about : D
Good luck with the new puppy!
