Dog Health Questions: German words dog training?

my german shepherd is undergoing training and already knows some of the german word commands. I am trying to train him that when he is in sit position and someone approaches I want to say a word to him to indicate that the person is 'ok" that he can allow himself to be petted and another word that he needs to be on alert. Can someone suggest something? my trainer does not like the word "ok" because if someone approaches and the dog is not sure and I say "ok" the dog witll think its OK to be nervous Makes sense. I just need a word to relate with a good feeling to the dog about a friendly person approaching. thanks!

Although my dogs are trained in several languages, not all at the same time of course, I use the word, "be friends"...in English. As far as your real question, EVERYONE is a friend with the dog until told differently by you and that word is "passaulf" and it is proceeded if you wish by the word "packen" which means "bite". • The words don't matter but you really need to train the dog as well as yourself. You can say anything and associate it with specific training - the words are of no concern. Choose a word dear - doesn't matter what it is since dogs don't speak any verbal language. They communicate through body language and smell but not verbal language.   You could use 'brav' as well. I agree with Greekman, though. A good protection dog views people as friendly until told otherwise. In my opinion you shouldn't need a special word to tell the dog someone is okay unless you are in an area where the threat of being assaulted is a daily occurance.
