Dog Health Questions: Repost: Service dog training assistant?

I posted this last night but only got one answer SO I heard back from CCI about my request for an application for a service dog. It only took them two weeks which is nice. I have to have a training assistant with me when I go up there, so I was wondering, how necessary is that? And does the assistant have to be able bodied because my mom will not want to do it (assuming I'm still living at home which me thinks probably not) and I have a friend in that area who I can ask if they would want to do it who has the same disability as I do.

You're asking the wrong people. If you want to know what they require or permit, you need to ask them, not us. You're going to have a relationship with this organization for the next 6-8 years at least (the working life of your service dog). You're going to have to communicate with them, and likely you'll have to do it a lot during the first year. They'll have a lot more respect for a client who asks questions of them than one who asks strangers for their opinions.

Whether they'll permit it depends on whether or not your friend can perform the necessary functions of the job. So you call and explain he is disabled and how and ask if he can be the assistant. Simple.

A Long Tradition of Dog Training

  • Hey I see that you need some sort of guide that will give you tips and tricks to help your dog become fully trained and more healthy. Recently one of my friends really needed some advice on how to train his dog, he followed the dog training academy course to successfully train his dog in a few weeks.

  • Ask them what the assistant has to be able to do. If you live with your mom and she does not want the service dog, they may not allow you to get one until you have your own place. If you don't bring the assistant they may also wait to help you get a dog until you have someone to work with.

  • Hey, from the sounds of it, you could use some pup training advice. Well, I took a course a while back because I had a terrier who drove me crazy! (I actually called him a terrorist instead of terrier) from the dog training academy. It really helped out a lot. I guess you have to kind of think like a dog. Anyway, it might be something you want to check out. Good luck.

  • hi [askername]
i understand the problem you ar going though when trying to lose weight
my friendis in the same situation as you nothing worked for him until he came across the diet solution program he s been haveing great success with it maybe this is samething which could be right for you

    well good luck to you

  • If they say you need an assistant, then you need one. Why are you questioning this? Why don't you just pick up the phone and give them a call?

  • If they ask for it then it is necessary. Training a Service Dog is no easy task.

  • As you say "I have to have a training assistant with me when I go up there, " so it is necessary

  • it is nesacari
