Dog Training School

I agree to an extent with the first answer. Check out different sites, people, etc and get some pointers. Enroll in a training class if you'd like..... however, the most important thing.. i repeat, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is to spend time with your dog!! The bonding between a dog and its handler is the most important thing because it establishes the groundwork for great communication, where you learn the limits of your dog, and how he/she learns best, and your dog gets to know you, and what you are asking of him/her. The more time you spend with your dog, and the more interaction you have, the more eager your dog will be to please you. They are social animals and need the interaction in order to develop mentally and emotionally. Just an example, my mother had a purebred shepard that was so well trained that she would stop at the street and wait for my mom before attempting to cross the street, and my mom never took her to a class. Another good source for any breed is the book "Dog Training for Dummies"~ it's written by people who have trained many many dogs, and they know their stuff!

An Overview Of The 3 Most Common Dog Training Methods

  • I live in Lancs and I called a well-established company called 'Barkbusters' which I found on Yell.com. They do home visits and deal with all kinds of dog behaviour and problems. They charged me £75 for a 3 hour home visit and if you need a return visit they charge £25 an hour. I didn't need another visit and found the price remarkable for the expertise that they provided - I was so pleased with the results. They monitor how you live your daily life to see the dog's behaviour (and yours) in your home environment. The company is based in many locations around the UK and even all over the world and I have also seen it on programs on TV. They deal with all kinds of dogs and I would recommend them to anybody. I hope that this is of use to you (it was invaluable to me). Good luck!!!
