Try this....tell her to "hold the bowl" then give her a treat and lots of praise. Keep going until she gets it. When she does ask her if she wants dinner, breakfast or whatever and tell her to "hold the bowl", then feed her.

I have 4 cats & one cat bullies her & wont let her use the litter box. I'm moving to a new house in 1 mo. & have to get her retrained. I try to keep the bully cat away from her, but it never works. I put dog training pads on the floor for her & she goes on them mostly, but I need her to use the litter box. Any ideas! Thank You!

Take an empty vitamin bottle (or something similar), put 2 pennies in it and close the lid. The next time your "bully cat" starts to bully the other cat, WHIP and I do mean THROW the "shaker bottle" either AT the cat (it wont hurt, it's only 2 pennies) or RIGHT NEXT to the bully cat (yeah, it'll scare both cats, but if you hit the bully cat, it will REALLY freak it out!) AND SAY "NO" very loudly! This isnt mean, it's not cruel, it's called "aversion therapy" and it works pretty good on cats, dogs and husbands. Your cat exhibits a bad behavior, shake the bottle (or throw it) and yell NO! It might work the 1st time or the 4th time, but cats are smart and the bully wont bully much longer.

  oh , and before any one thinks about trying to cuss me , pups can leave there mum in the uk @ 6 weeks of age , not the 8 weeks you have in the states ,

Dog Health Questions: Dog training? Dog licks everybody. How to stop?

Mother-in-law has poodle that licks when excited. He has to lick any part of your body that is exposed (perverts go elsewhere please), face, hands, feet, legs. It's extremely annoying and she wants him to stop that habit. I've tried distracting the dog, but so far that isn't working. Any ideas? Any experiences?

She only licks me, because she knows not to lick anyone else because ever since she was little my mum used to not let her lick anyone, by shutting her snout or training her to understand the command "no". I've never really smacked her or pressed her sout down gently so she never learned not to lick me.... It's something you need to try to train them not to do from young, GLk! :)


• The best way I've found to teach a dog not to do something is to actually teach it TO do it first. We all teach puppies the no command but not the actions that go on the other end of it. We holler "no! Don't chew my shoes (or electrical cord, or chair, or rug, or you fill in the blank)!". But we seldom convey more than anger or displeasure. This is a situation you take cake advantage of though without the dog being destructive.
  
  This is how I've taught my dogs not to bark, and along for the ride I got a Speak and a Whisper out of it. ; )

You can most likely find more skilled help at your local humane society or SPCA - ask them for a recommendation. BB is a chain, and that's fine for dogs that need basic training, but you need advice as much as training if your dog has a serious aggression problem. Depending upon what the situation is, it may or may not be something you can fix - and you need to know that, but only from a qualified evaluator that wokrs with a reputable rescue, not a trainer. Trainers and behaviourists are dfifferent.

While you will always be able to find those who will line up and guarantee results, the best thing to realize is that the only thing you can pretty much guarantee is that someone could get hurt, and whether it be you or someone else, it is also likely that you will eventually be the subject of a lawsuit, and a big one at that.

After a certain point, it is important to realize that a dog that feels as if they must strike out at others is not happy with their life, and it's better for it to be over. This isn't just for your convenience, it is for the dog to be at peace and out of the constant feeling of insecurity. It is a generous act of kindness to let it end.

Many dogs are euthanized each day - and a lot of those dogs would have gotten along with others just fine. It is far better to use that place for a dog that does not feel as if they have to fight their way through life, but can peacefully coexist.

Have your dog evaluated by a qualified evaluator, and go from there. While some things can be fixed, realize that others just cannot.

Rescue is not an easy business, and sometimes the hardest choice is the right one - even for the dog.
